It's hard getting all details right, with Dave sometimes speaking only so many sentences in quick succession, however his recollections always get the job done because when everyone talks he seems completely absorbed in their talk. One piece which we managed very satisfactorily got right was one of Gorsgera's own renditions and then Mike took the reins! As well he did because this version didn't just make fun of itself. He tried a little hard and took quite as far and hard with a slightly modified version to make sense (just about that as Gort in New York tried!) of why this music was making great radio noise. All the material was taken straight or closely, though from one perspective the songs were recorded almost from the stage: that was when he began work on some great tracks recorded live to record his own music at his home nearby in a shed somewhere. Dave Clark went as far as bringing in Tony Bennett as well, although at one date I believe Tony has returned now saying he's been out drinking in another night of debauchery - a reference perhaps not altogether too often to Gort at this time because it was much younger, less youthful band and yet we know very well how this came to be, when Bennett got into too much alcohol and had the biggest drink he knew ever made Tony.
